Together, we’ll work through the core building blocks of London accents - exploring the PEOPLE, POSTURE, PRONUNCIATION AND PROSODY of London - with a focus on performance-ready application.

London is home to some of the most influential and recognisable accents in the English-speaking world. But there is no single "London accent." In this workshop, we'll explore the spectrum of speech that exists across the city - from the working-class roots of Cockney to the dynamic, multicultural influences that have shaped MLE.

Working live allows for real-time adjustment, exploration, and a more embodied understanding of the accent.

What We’ll Work On

  • Key vowel and consonant patterns

  • Rhythm, melody, and placement

  • Nuance and variation

  • Moving from generalised → specific choices

  • Applying the accent to text and performance

What You’ll Leave With

  • A clearer, more specific understanding of London accent patterns

  • Workshop recording and materials - and tools to continue developing the accent independently

  • Greater confidence bringing the accent into auditions and performance

  • An embodied London accent

Who This Is For

Actors:

  • preparing for auditions or roles requiring a London accent

  • looking to bring greater specificity and truth to their work

  • wanting real-time guidance and refinement

  • expanding their range with a highly castable, character-rich accent

Accent work isn't about imitation.
It's about understanding the sound systems, influences, and choices that shape the way people speak.

This is an invitation to explore London accents with specificity, authenticity, and respect for the voices behind them.
